Different Paths, One Vision

Ruud’s journey started in the world of strategic marketing, working with Fortune 500 companies like Kraft Heinz and Philips. But while he built global brands by day, his real passion was gaming and AI. As a Web3 investor, he saw enormous potential, but also a pattern of broken promises. Too many projects were overhyped, too many tools were inefficient, and the industry felt stuck in its ways.

Zaid, on the other hand, came from a different world: logistics. At Agility, he thrived on solving inefficiencies, which led him into tech. He built and sold a web development platform that helped businesses cut costs, then dove into animation and interactive media. That’s when he noticed something frustrating: game development tools weren’t designed to empower creators. They were either painfully complex or too restrictive, forcing developers to work around them rather than with them.

When Ruud and Zaid met in 2020 through a Web3 gaming investment, everything clicked. Despite their different backgrounds, they had arrived at the same conclusion: game development was broken. Tools were outdated, development cycles were painfully slow, and true innovation was being held back.

They knew there had to be a better way.


From Frustration to Innovation

By 2023, AI had reached a turning point. Ruud and Zaid weren’t just following the hype; they were deep in the trenches, experimenting with machine learning and agentic technology. They realized something most people hadn’t yet: AI wasn’t just a tool to speed up workflows. It had the potential to fundamentally change how games were built.

One night, after yet another long discussion about AI’s role in gaming, the idea hit them: What if we didn’t just build an AI-powered game? What if we built the ultimate AI-powered toolkit for every developer?

That was the moment Spawn Tools was born.
